Summer Show 2021
As various Covid lockdowns have eased throughout the summer, the gardening club members were busy arranging a successful flower show held in the Meon village hall on the 18th July. This coincidentally happened one day before lessening of Covid restrictions!
There weren't as many entrants as previous years, but a good effort was made by those who were able to submit entries. Hopefully this will increase as the Covid pandemic resolves. The show had to be adapted to allow for social distancing by omitting floral art, handicraft and the sweet pea championship classes. This decision accommodated a one-way system to assist with social distancing. There weren't as many fruit and vegetable entries probably due to poor spring weather and fewer entrants. There were many fabulous flower displays and Covid restrictions certainly encouraged many entrants for the cookery classes as well as photography and the children's classes. The weather during the lead up to the show was unsettled but on the day was hot and sunny which was perfect, and drew many to visit the show and enjoy the various outside stalls.
