75th Anniversary of D-Day Advance Notification

The Parish Council has received outline details of national events to be held on the weekend of 8th-10th May 2020 to celebrate and commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day and the involvement of communities nationwide is being encouraged. The early May Bank Holiday has been moved to Friday 8th May to enable wide participation. It is anticipated that Droxford may wish to hold street parties, church services, or other forms of tribute to acknowledge the day that nearly 6 years of war in Europe ended. Any individual or representative of an organisation that is considering hosting an event/service to commemorate this anniversary is invited to attend a short meeting at 1830 on Thursday 19th September in Droxford Village Hall. The primary purpose of the meeting will be to ensure deconfliction of events in terms of both date and time during the weekend of 8th-20th May, thereby encouraging wide community support where appropriate.
